My grandmother was a professional artist and art teacher, and she really brought the visual arts into my world. For as long as I can remember, art has been a big part of my life, but I would argue I began my art career on accident.
I received my AA in art studio in 2016, but I had no plans to pursue art as a career. In fact, I then went on to attain a BS in business and hospitality management. But then the pandemic hit and I was set to graduate in a few months, and had no prospects of entering the workforce. So when my aunt asked if I could host a virtual paint party for a 6th-grader’s birthday, I jumped right on it. Since then I have been teaching art and growing as an artist alongside my students.
I began figure drawing and character design and completely fell in love with it. I am a major cartoon and comic fan, so I have been inspired to create my own webcomic and take on illustration commissions.
I wear a lot of hats, but I love love LOVE everything I do. I adore my students, and helping them achieve their art goals is so incredibly fulfilling. I often work on illustration and design commissions on my days off because I enjoy it so much. Now I just continue to try to grow as an artist, learn all I can about creating, and I can’t wait to see where the wind takes me.
